Pennsylvania man allegedly killed high school sweetheart, then himself in apparent murder-suicide

BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. (TCN) — A 26-year-old man allegedly killed his wife before going into the woods to turn the gun on himself in what police are calling a murder-suicide.
According to a press release from the Pennsylvania State Police, Ryan Hosso called his parents to tell them he had killed his wife, 25-year-old Madeline Spatafore, and was planning to commit suicide. Hosso’s parents notified law enforcement, and when they arrived at the couple’s home, they found Spatafore dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Behind the home, they found Hosso dead from a single gunshot wound. The New York Post reportsthermal drones were used to find Hosso’s body.
CBS News reports Spatafore was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority and had become a physician assistant after graduating from Duquesne University. Hosso’s LinkedIn account states that he was a mechanical engineer in the oil and gas industry, but according to a spokesman for Vavco, listed as his place of employment, Hosso has not worked there for several years.
Hosso and Spatafore were high-school sweethearts and had married in 2024, per the New York Post. WHMI reportsSpatafore’s Facebook profile has a picture of the two dating from 2018, in which they appear to be attending prom.
A motive has not been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
