A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed early Thursday in Maple Ridge.

RCMP say that shortly before 6 a.m. officers were called out to the 26000-block of Lougheed Highway for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Investigators say the man was hit by a car while trying to corral his dogs. Paramedics tried to save his life but he died.
