The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Gombe State has rejected a viral social media list naming its state leader, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, as a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, campaign advisory council.
In a statement signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Abdulkadir Ahmad Dukku, and made available to newsmen, the PDP described the list as entirely “FAKE”, alleging that it was circulated to mislead party members and supporters.
The party said Dankwambo, who is its senatorial candidate for Gombe North, did not know about the alleged appointment. It described him as a key figure in the party at both state and national levels.
The PDP accused the ruling APC of spreading false information to create confusion and distrust ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It also criticised individuals it accused of pretending to be concerned citizens while working against the opposition party.
“The PDP Gombe State therefore wishes to call on all its Stakeholders, members, supporters and well-wishers to disregard such publications and social media images targeted at the Party Leader,” the statement read.
The party urged the APC to stop what it called a campaign of falsehood and focus on explaining its policies to the electorate.
“The APC should concentrate on selling out their party ideologies instead of dishing out lies against other political parties, as the people of Gombe are wise enough to make the right choice,” the statement added.
