Watch: See Paul Rudd’s HILARIOUS “Get Well” Message to Jeremy Renner
This is Paul Rudd in trouble with the law.
The This Is 40 actor admitted he has had some run-ins with the law, detailing the two separate occasions that occurred before he became a household name.
“One time I was in a car, I was riding shotgun and my friend Mike was driving and we had water guns and there was a car next to us—our friends,” he told Benny Blanco and Lil Dicky on the May 19 episode of their Friends Keep Secrets podcast. “They had them, too. We were just having a water gun fight.”
Though the then-16-year-old and his pals “were just being rascals,” the law enforcement officer who pulled them over didn’t quite see it that way.
“Mike pulls over and he has a gun trained on us,” Paul explained of the cop. “And he comes walking around the side and he says, ‘Alright, boy. Slowly, real slowly, hand over that water gun. And you better pray it’s a water gun.’”
“And he has a gun on me,” the Ant-Man star stressed. “I’m like 16.”
After he and Mike handed over the water guns, Paul, 57, revealed Mike got a ticket for reckless driving since the teens appeared to swerve into another lane. And Paul didn’t exactly get off scot-free. After all, he received a citation for being an accomplice to reckless driving.
“Maybe he was just trying to teach us a lesson,” Paul noted, but “I wound up having to go to court for that.”

As for his second offense?
“And then the other time I was in college my freshman year and I killed someone,” he quipped. “And let me tell you something that was hard to get out of.”
Though he didn’t actually take a life, The Perks of Being a Wallflower actor was caught with an alcoholic beverage before the legal drinking age of 21.
“I was kind of new to drinking, I’ll be honest with you,” he recalled. “And cops came around and I was underage and so I just dumped it.”

After a cop caught him trying to get rid of the evidence, Paul—dad to kids Jack, 17, and Darby, 13, with wife Julie Yaeger—noted he wasn’t “technically” arrested, but he “did have to go do community service.”
And Paul did get an old-school beat-down while fulfilling his community service hours at the Boys & Girls Club.
After the students prompted counselors to get involved in what was supposed to be an innocent boxing activity, Paul noted a “kid kicked my ass.”
But, as he emphasized, there were no hard feelings.
“Even then,” he added, “I’m like, ‘that was really funny.’”
