The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association Board of Directors approved a $1 ticket price increase for postseason athletic events during its meeting Wednesday.
Gate prices for championships moved from $10 to $11, while non-championship prices are up from $7 to $8.

Sports that include eight-team state brackets — such as baseball, basketball, softball and volleyball — will have prices of $11 for all state tournament events, but the cost will be $8 at regional tournaments.
The $11 price will also be used for all rounds in events that are more individual-based, such as the state wrestling and tennis tournaments.

The board approved the change with a 14-0 vote, and it will take effect immediately.
Executive director David Jackson said the OSSAA’s ticket prices are near the bottom compared to others in the region and that the $1 increase would go a long way to help keep up with expenses.

“You’re paying more for regular season contests in a lot of cases than what we charge for playoff activities, so we feel like there’s justification there to sum it all up,” Jackson said.
