Ohio State has ruled out starting right tackle Phillip Daniels and defensive end Zion Grady for its Big Ten opener against Illinois on Sept. 26.
Daniels and Grady were designated as out on the Big Ten availability report released two hours head of kickoff. They had been downgraded to doubtful a day earlier.
It is the second straight game they will be unavailable for the Buckeyes as they were held out of last week’s rout of Kent State. Both Daniels and Grady suffered unspecified injuries in their loss at Texas on Sept. 12.

The Buckeyes added Gabe VanSickle to the starting offensive line last week while Daniels was out. VanSickle lined up at right guard, and Austin Siereveld moved over to right tackle. Qua Russaw started at defensive end for Grady.
Daniels and Grady, as well as tight end Bennett Christian, were Ohio State’s most notable players to be ruled out.
LSU transfer wide receiver Kyle Parker is expected to make his debut for the Buckeyes after he was left off the availability report. Parker had been listed as probable a day earlier.
