Kent State opened their season being shut out by South Carolina, but rebounded strongly in their week 2 matchup with a 36-15 victory over FCS opponent Wofford. The Golden Flashes, now 1-1, closed the game with 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter after being down by a point at halftime.
Meanwhile, Illinois fell at home to Duke 31-27. The Fighting Illini held a 24-21 lead at halftime, but their explosive offense was only able to score three points in the second half, and they were upset by the Blue Devils. Illini quarterback Katin Houser completed 24 of 35 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns. His top target this season appears to be Collin Dixon, who had caught 11 passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns.
