Bayern Munich confirmed the renewals of 17-year-olds Chris Afanou and Rayan Moumouni in a recent announcement on the club’s website. Michael Wiesinger, Head of Sport and Youth Development at the FC Bayern Campus, had this to say:
“We are delighted that both boys have decided to continue their journey with us. Rayan, in particular, attracted attention in the second half of the year with increased playing time. We are excited to see how he develops further. Chris has had some bad luck with injuries recently. We wish him all the best and believe in his potential.”

Bayern’s website also captured some additional info on the youngsters:
Rayan Moumouni joined the FCB Campus from TSV Milbertshofen’s youth academy in 2019 and has since progressed through the youth teams up to the U19 level. Last season, the right-back made 17 league appearances for the U19s and one appearance in the UEFA Youth League. Striker Afanou arrived at FCB’s youth academy from FC Teutonia München in 2022 and, partly due to injuries, only made nine appearances last season (scoring one goal).
BFW Analysis
Moumouni started the 2025/26 season as a back up. But after first choice right back Chivano Wijks got injured, though, he received regular game times. Apparently, he was solid enough to earn the renewal. Meanwhile, Afanou has received a lot of praise at the Campus, so his extension is not surprising either. It is a renewal based on faith rather than belief, given his recent injury woes, but he will now get two years to prove he can remain fit and build on his talent.
