Watch: *NSYNC’s Joey Fatone Shares Secret Behind His and Lance Bass’ Creative “Chemistry” (Exclusive)
Lance Bass and Joey Fatoneare ready to raise their glasses, this they promise you.
The *NSYNC alums toasted to their decades-long friendship, sharing how it felt like “no time has passed” while filming their new show Cocktail Wars together.
“We’ve been known each other well over 30 years now,” Fatone exclusively told E!’s Erin Lim Rhodes during the Creator Cam livestream at Cocktail Wars’ Aug. 12 premiere party in New York. “Sometimes, when you do chemistry tests with people when you’re doing a show, it doesn’t work very well. For us, we didn’t even have to do any of that.”
Calling Bass “my brother,” the 49-year-old continued, “It’s a blast. So much fun working with him.”
It’s a sentiment echoed by Bass, who jokingly called Fatone his “work husband.”
“We’ve experienced a lot of life together,” the 47-year-old, who has been married to Michael Turchin since 2014, told Lim Rhodes at the bash. “We’ve all individually hosted different shows, but to be able to come together and have so much fun, we get to revert back to being teenagers and doing really stupid things.”
“We just get each other,” Bass added with a laugh. “We can sit in a room for an hour and not talk, which is the best thing to do around Joey Fatone.”
Bass and Fatone are joining celebrity guest and expert judges in the weekly competition series as they watch two mixologists go head-to-head to create the most impressive cocktails for a $10,000 prize.
For the pop stars, taking on new projects is all they’ve ever wanted. So, helming the new competition series was a pitch-perfect opportunity.
Although Bass and Fatone are focusing on the most jaw-dropping cocktails these days, they haven’t fully put the stopper on taking the stage together—with their *NSYNC members Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick. After all, they released their first song together, “Better Place” for Trolls Band Together in more than 20 years in 2023.

“Look, the door is always open,” Bass told E! News in November 2023. “Especially now, I’m game and we will be talking at some point. So hopefully, fingers crossed, something will work out.”
Meanwhile, Fatone—dad to daughters Briahna, 25, and Khloey, 16, with ex Kelly Baldwin—knows that life has a lot more strings attached nowadays. (For his part, Bass shares 4-year-old twins Alexander and Violet with Turchin.)
“It’s weird because again, like back in the day when we were younger, nobody was married, nobody had kids, but as we got older, we’re married, we have kids,” he reflected to E! in June 2024. “It takes a different perspective.”
Although a reunion would look different now, Fatone is down to make it happen somewhere, someday.
“Everybody’s older, everybody has different personalities now,” he added. “How do we deal with that? I’m not saying that it’s bad. It’s just a matter of making it cohesive.”
While Bass and Fatone pop bottles in Cocktail Wars Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 10 p.m. on E!, keep reading for more TV premieres.
