A North Vancouver man is facing sexual-offence charges against a youth following a nearly two-year investigation.

Zahid Hassandeen Zade Nanji, 53, is charged with sexual exploitation and sexual assault after a Richmond RCMP investigation into allegations of historical sexual offences.

RCMP received a report about the alleged offences in September 2024. It said the alleged offences occurred between 2004 and 2008 when the complainant was a youth and Nanji was in a position of trust or authority.

“Reporting incidents of sexual abuse can be extremely difficult, particularly when the events occurred many years ago,” said Richmond RCMP’s Cpl. Frank Bryson in a statement.

“We recognize the courage it takes for victims to come forward and encourage anyone who may have information related to this investigation, or who believes they may have experienced a similar incident, to contact police.”

A publication ban is in place to protect the identity of the complainant.
