Watch: Exclusive: Nick Carter’s Kids Steal the Show in Sweet Family Video
Nick Carter’s most important role is dad—and he wants it that way.
As the Backstreet Boys singer celebrated Father’s Day June 21, he spent it in the studio alongside his and Lauren Kitt’s three kids Odin, 10, Saoirse, 6, and Pearl, 5, recording a new song, “First Place.”
“This song a very special song to me,” Carter shared in a video alongside his kids shared exclusively with E! News. “It’s a song basically about being in the industry and being away from your children and traveling and working really hard like all of us do as fathers, and parents in general, when we’re out and away and want to be with our children.”
And on top of singing about his role as a father, Carter opted to make his kids a literal part of his new solo venture.
“My plans in the song right now are just to put my kids on the song,” the 46-year-old, who produced the new music with Vic Martin, explained, “and teach them a little bit about harmony which is what I’ve been doing my whole life with the Backstreet Boys.”
Meanwhile, his kids were excited to partake. As Odin put it, “It feels really special and a really nice privilege he’s given us.”
Saoirse, however, was a bit more nervous about the prospect.
“I feel like I’m gonna vomit,” she quipped, “because I love singing and I always sing in the shower, I sing in the bath, I sing at night.”
As for how Pearl felt about it all? The 5-year-old sweetly deadpanned from her father’s lap, “Great.”
On top of bringing his kids with him to record in the studio, Carter emphasized that his current chapter performing at the Sphere in Las Vegas with the Backstreet Boys—which also includes members AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough and Kevin Richardson—has been especially rewarding as a father.

“Sphere has been a blessing for my family because I’ve been able to be in Las Vegas and be present with them,” Carter mused, “Just to be there as much as I can with my children and spend moments and memories with them and create those memories is everything I’ve ever been longing and dreamed for.”
His kids are not only getting a front row seat to their dad’s performances and time in the studio. The “Shape of My Heart” singer revealed they were thrilled to hear his voice in the upcoming soundtrack for Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie, which features the Backstreet Boys song “Bottle Up.”
“Now that my kids can actually hear it and see it and are starting to realize a bit of what daddy does—the emotions, I can’t even explain them,” Carter added. “It’s just really great. All the things happening at the exact same time, with Sphere, we’re just blessed.”
