Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are back in India colours, and the New Zealand ODI series gives them a chance to step into the spotlight once more after nearly a month away from international cricket.
India arrive for the five-match ODI series on the back of a 3-2 win in the T20I series against the Blackcaps, which means the visitors are carrying some momentum into the first game.

The mood in the camp should be positive, even though New Zealand won the last two matches of that series.
However, the squad will not be at full strength. The World Test Championship games follow almost immediately, with the fifth and final ODI in Tauranga on November 15 and the first Test beginning in Wellington on November 19.
That tight turnaround has forced the team management to rethink how it uses its players, and even captain Shubman Gill will sit out the final two ODIs so that he can concentrate on the Tests.
