The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has given details of the incident involving an Enugu Air aircraft at Benin Airport in Edo State on Thursday.
The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, Michael Achimugu, confirmed exclusively to DAILY POST that the Enugu Air aircraft was involved in a runway excursion at Benin Airport.
According to Achimugu, the aircraft skidded off the runway after landing, but all passengers and crew members escaped unhurt.
“They had a runway excursion. Yes, there was this skid off the runway after landing. Everybody is safe. There was no injury to any passenger. All passengers came out. Passengers and crew came out safe,” he said.
Similarly, a Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, official, who preferred anonymity, also confirmed to DAILY POST that it was a runway excursion.
The cause of the runway excursion was not immediately known as of the time of filing this report.
Enugu Air, the Enugu State-owned airline, commenced commercial operations on July 7, 2025.
