There’s some pushback on the Cincinnati Bengals right now.
Joe Burrow’s recent comments about contending for a Super Bowl with what he feels like is the best roster yet for his era of the Bengals were always going to be met with some resistance.

For Bengals fans, the criticism of the Bengals is nothing new. Oftentimes, they joined right in on the action.
But this time, a few national takes came with some funny mistakes that fans were quick to point out.
There was, for example, Michael Wilbon on “Get Up” disagreeing with the Bengals even being favorites in the AFC North…while alluding to a first-round pick they made this year:
The Bengals, of course, traded the 10th pick for Dexter Lawrence, then used a second-round selection on edge rusher Cashius Howell.
Howell won’t need to “start” as a rookie, though. He’ll be in a rotation, with bigger snap counts given to Shemar Stewart, Myles Murphy and free-agent signee Boye Mafe.

Then there was Emmanuel Acho, who took issue with Burrow saying this is his best-ever supporting cast. While doing so, he brought up former Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert:
Eifert played his last snap of football with the Bengals in 2019. The Bengals drafted Burrow in 2020.
When it comes to the “best supporting cast ever” comment, it’s just athlete-speak. Burrow’s not going to hit the podium and say the current roster isn’t as good as the year prior, but that they’ll try to make it work, or something similar.
Burrow has praise for what the Bengals did while leaving their comfort zone this offseason. It’s praiseworthy and has them looking like contenders.

The expected clapbacks come with some humor this time, at least.
