Naomi Osaka recently gave fans a closer look at her injury following her U.S. Open exit, joking about sharing a “free feet pic” as she showed off her wrapped feet.
Osaka opened her U.S. Open campaign on Aug. 31 with a win over Anastasia Zakharova before defeating Katerina Siniakova and Elise Mertens to reach the fourth round. She then faced Elena Rybakina, where the Japanese star struggled with a lingering Achilles injury that had first flared up during her third-round win over Mertens.

She eventually lost to Rybakina, bringing her U.S. Open run to an end. Days after the defeat, she shared a picture of her wrapped feet on her Instagram Story, writing:
“It’s me and my splint against the world.”

Shortly after, Osaka shared a screenshot of a message joking that she would give fans a free picture of her feet, saying:
“Not you giving the internet a free feet pic🤷🏻”
Sharing her response in the caption of the story, she wrote:
“You’re welcome.”
Naomi Osaka has won the U.S. Open twice in her career, lifting the trophy in 2018 and 2020.
After losing to Elena Rybakina in the fourth round of the US Open, Naomi Osaka spoke about her injury during her post-match press conference. She admitted that she was dealing with pain but felt she gave her best effort under the circumstances.
“I like you guys use the word compromise. Yes, I was compromised. I mean, like the last match I played, I felt a lot in my leg. And then this morning it just got a lot worse. But I don’t know. I felt like I played the best that I could given the situation and the crowd was really into it. So, it was fun. It was unfortunate obviously, but yeah, life goes on,” Naomi Osaka said.
She also revealed that she was undergoing further tests to determine the extent of the injury and discussed her plans to manage it during the remainder of the season.
“Well, yesterday I got an ultrasound and then I got an ultrasound again just now. And I’m probably going to go get an MRI because I honestly I don’t really know too much about what’s going on. And I think managing it like thankfully we’re at the end of the year. So, after the Asian swing, we do get like two weeks off. So, yeah, I’m just going to, I would say, make do with what the time that I have. And try to be smart about the amount of matches I play.”
Before the U.S. Open, Naomi Osaka competed at the Cincinnati Open, where she lost to Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals.
