Naomi Osaka made another fashion statement during the second round of the 2026 US Open. After wearing an Allen Iverson-inspired look in the first round, Osaka came out wearing Thom Browne. According to ESPN’s Malika Andrews, everyone in her player box is also wearing clothes custom-made by the American designer.
Thom Browne is no stranger to making clothes for an entire party. Most famously, back in 2018, LeBron James bought matching Thom Browne suits for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The team wore them on April 20 ahead of Game 3 of their first round playoff series against the Indiana Pacers. The Cavaliers lost the game, but won the series and earned a number of articles about their looks.

As for Osaka, it would have been cooler if she had continued with fashion inspiration from the 1996 NBA draft class. There’s just no way that this look was inspired by Marcus Camby who was selected by the Toronto Raptors the pick after Iverson. Then she could have done something inspired by Shareef Abdur-Rahim in the third round. Who wouldn’t want 2026 fashion inspired by the ’96 Vancouver Grizzlies?

Stephon Marbury, Ray Allen, Antoine Walker and then Lorenzen Wright in the final. Unfortunately, she would need an extra match to get to single high sock look inspired by Kerry Kittles. There’s always next year.

Osaka advanced to at least the fourth round at the French Open and Wimbledon earlier this year. She has won two US Opens in her career, but none since 2020. Her last grand slam win came in 2021 at the Australian Open. Last year she made it all the way to the semifinals of the US Open where she lost to Amanda Anisimova.
