The biggest Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) gi event of the year is upon us, with the 2026 IBJJF World Championships happening at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California on May 28 – 31, 2026. This is also a milestone event, as it’s the 30th edition of the IBJJF Worlds.
The 2026 IBJJF Worlds or “Mundials” will stream LIVE on FloGrappling, starting at 12:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, and will continue until the event concludes on Sunday. A free live stream of the earlier matches will likely be on YouTube, which will be embedded below once it’s available.
With this being the most prestigious gi event of the year, there will be an incredibly stacked list of competitors all vying for a world title. Almost every top ranked competitor has signed up for the 2026 IBJJF Worlds, with several world champions also returning.

Roosterweight, featherweight and medium-heavyweight are exceptionally deep with each having at least three former world champions in brackets of over 30 competitors each. There are also big name favorites in other divisions like Diego Pato, Tainan Dalpra, Mayssa Bastos and Gabi Pessanha. Women’s lightweight is also the bracket to watch in the women’s divisions, as it has top pound-for-pound talents in Sarah Galvao and Cassia Moura, along with other champions and top contenders like Janaina Lebre on deck.
As the gi season concludes, there’s naturally talk about “Grand Slam” titles as well. IBJJF officially counts it as those who won all three major events of the year (Pans, Euros, and Brasileiros), plus the World Championships from the previous year. This meant that Dalpra and Pessanha secured their official IBJJF grand slams after winning gold at the Brasileiros earlier in May.
If we’re only counting 2026 though, Sarah Galvao joins Dalpra and Pessanha, as the only three grapplers with a chance to go home with a world title, and gold medals at every major IBJJF gi tournament this year. A super grand slam title, an even rarer achievement which Mica Galvao accomplished in 2024, would also entail winning all four IBJJF gi majors plus the upcoming 2026 ADCC world title.
Thursday and Friday will feature the colored belts. Adult black belt divisions will start on Saturday, with the semis and final rounds happening on Sunday.
