After two seasons as the head boys basketball coach at Mt. Zion Prep (Md.), Lafayette Dublin is headed elsewhere. He has accepted an assistant coach position at Texas Southern, according to a report from Capitol Hoops.
Dublin came to the Warriors from Rock Creek Christian Academy (Md.) in April of 2024. Since arriving in Lanham, he’s had the Free State program in the mix, consistently playing some of the top programs in the country.

Last season saw the Warriors take on the likes of DNA Prep Academy (Calif.), DME Academy (Fla.), Link Academy (Mo.), Wasatch Academy (Utah) and Prolific Prep (Fla.). Mt. Zion finished the year as the No. 13 team in Maryland, according to the Rivals Composite Rankings.
He’s now headed for the Division I ranks. The former Towson forward will join a Texas Southern program that went 12-28 last season.
