More layoffs are expected at Global B.C., as owner Corus Entertainment announces another round of “changes.”

On Wednesday, media industry website Broadcast Dialogue reported Corus Entertainment would be “making changes that will impact roles at Global B.C., the Global National newscast, and some of its talk radio network, including 640 Toronto.”

Corus provided Broadcast Dialogue this statement: “As we continue to adapt to the evolving needs of our business, Corus has made a small number of changes in select markets, including roles at Global B.C., Global National, News 640 and talk radio.

“These changes are part of the difficult but necessary work to ensure our teams are structured in a sustainable way, while minimizing disruption to local news and audio delivery. We remain committed to supporting our news operations, and these changes do not reflect station closures or a retreat from our commitment to news. We continue to evolve our operating model so we can deliver trusted news to audiences across platforms as effectively as possible.”

In July 2025, Corus cut 43 unionized jobs across its TV and radio holdings, including two in B.C. The majority of cuts were at Global in Edmonton and Calgary.

Corus operates 15 TV stations and 36 radio stations in Canada, as well as 25 specialty TV services.

In B.C. it operates Global B.C., Global Okanagan, BC1, CKNW, CFOX and Rock 101.
