A local mother who went viral on an SF Giants broadcast is now speaking out about her relationship and defending her husband from attacks online.
The clip went viral on Tuesday night as the Giants took on the Minnesota Twins at Oracle Park. The woman, who said her name is Erika, was shown on the broadcast returning to her seat with a baby and a stack of to-go food containers. As she settled back in, broadcasters Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow, as they often do during games, provided a little fictional narration of the scene.

“If there’s ever a true definition of a multitasking mother, that is the deal right there,” Krukow said. “I think she’s an Olympic champion.”
The duo then began joking about how Erika’s husband failed to help her with the baby and instead began digging into his meal, quipping the man was probably nagging her for not bringing any ketchup. The scene went instantly viral across the internet, racking up millions of views and comments, many of which urged Erika to divorce her unhelpful husband.
Now, the woman has spoken out in a lengthy Substack post. “We initially thought the broadcast was funny,” she said. “Kruk and Kuip are broadcasting legends, and part of their charm is the way they tell stories about people at the ballpark.” But excited texts from family and friends soon turned to an overwhelming number of angry DMs and online comments, Erika said.

According to Erika, her husband Ramses recently lost a close friend, and she suggested going to the game as a way to honor him. Erika also wrote that she took the baby with her to the bathroom partly to keep them both warm, and that she’d already eaten before the game, hence only her husband getting a meal. “That evening, I chose to take care of him,” she wrote. “A camera catching me doing something for my husband doesn’t show all the times he has done something for me.”
Erika also addressed legendary Giants broadcasters Kruk and Kuip, writing that although she knew they “meant no harm,” their words nonetheless hurt her. “What was a few moments of amusement on your broadcast became days of real pain for our family,” she wrote. “I wish you had known what that night meant to him before making him the punchline.”
The clip has even spawned TikTok commentaries, reaching far beyond the baseball world and into the pop culture trending space. But Erika wrote that she hoped people would think of her children before they post. “To the people who insulted Ramses, please remember that our children may someday read your words or watch your videos,” she said. “I don’t want them to search for this memory and find strangers calling their dad a deadbeat.”
