This year’s Independence Day is a special one, marking 250 years since the Declaration of Independence.
Major League Baseball is getting in on the occasion, “going all out to celebrate America’s Semiquincentennial,” the league said.
Uniform tweaks for July 4 include Nike jerseys with stars-and-stripes numbers, patriotic socks and hat, and a special USA 250 patch.

“Baseball brings Americans together, so as the National Pastime, we are proud to celebrate this special anniversary and to provide even more opportunities for people nationwide to engage with our sport this year,” said Uzma Rawn Dowler, MLB chief marketing officer and senior vice president, global corporate partnerships. “By creating these special opportunities honoring the country’s founding, we hope more fans than ever will enjoy memorable moments with baseball.”
Last season, teams wore a special edition hat, with each logo including the American flag.
In addition, all 30 teams will play at least one nationally televised game on Fourth of July weekend, giving all fans a chance to see their squad in action.
