Watch: Millie Bobby Brown May Have Revealed Her Baby’s Name on Necklace—With a Special Meaning
It’s a tale as old as time: how becoming a parent often comes with a new, endless capacity for love.
Nevertheless, it took Millie Bobby Brown and her husband Jake Bongiovi welcoming their first child—a baby girl they adopted in 2025—to completely understand it for herself.
In fact, she said no one could have prepared her for “the love” she’d feel for her daughter.
“People say they love their children,” the Stranger Things star noted in a conversation with UNICEF, shared June 1. “I couldn’t—I don’t understand how that much happens in my heart. The feeling is so overwhelming. It’s just incomprehensible.”
And while the 22-year-old and Jake, 24, have only recently stepped into the role of first-time parents, they’ve got a major support system in their respective mothers, Kelly Brown and Dorothea Hurley.
“Naturally, just when you see something, like they’re doing something, you’re like, ‘Is that normal? Do they do that?’” Millie explained. “And I call my mum, she is just like my 9-1-1. It’s like, ‘Mum, did I do this? Did my siblings do this?’ And she’s like, ‘Oh yeah, that’s completely normal. They do that all the time.’”
The Enola Holmes star continued, “It’s so great, I’m so honored to have support. And if I can’t call her, I call my mother-in-law. And she is just like the same way. It’s just so nice to hear reassurance.”

That female support system will especially come in handy as a sounding board as her daughter gets older.
“Raising a daughter is a real responsibility,” Millie reflected. “I just try to learn as much as I can and feed it into her life so that she knows nothing other than girls supporting girls, or women succeeding, women achieving their dreams, and living in a world and building a world for her that isn’t unrealistic, but it sets a standard for her to know that she shouldn’t settle for anything less.”
Since welcoming their daughter, Millie and Jake—who tied the knot in 2024—have remained relatively mum about their life as a family of three, sharing rare images that shield their baby’s face and only teasing her first name (believed to be Ruth).

Millie did, however, share some new insight into her favorite way to spend time with her baby girl.
“She loves food, and I love food,” she added to UNICEF. “So, our love language together is food. We just love to sit there and eat. And she always wants to try what I’m having, and I’m always eating what she’s having.”
But don’t expect her and Jake to start peeling back the curtain on their daughter’s inner world anytime soon.
“For me, it’s really important to protect her and her story,” Millie said in the December issue of British Vogue, “until she’s old enough to potentially one day share it herself.”
“If she chooses to share her personality one day with the world, like I did when I was young, that’s something we’d support,” she added. “But right now, as she’s so little—as her parents, it’s our job to protect her from that.”
