Two persons have been confirmed dead while eight others sustained injuries following a communal clash between youths from Inkil and Bujinji villages on the outskirts of Bauchi metropolis.
This was made known in a report by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region.
According to the report, the violence occurred at about 11:00 pm on June 21, 2026, when youths from Inkil village allegedly launched a reprisal attack on Bujinji over a longstanding dispute between the two communities.
Makama disclosed that eight persons sustained varying degrees of injuries during the confrontation.
Following a distress call, a police patrol team led by a senior officer was deployed to the area and evacuated the victims to the State Specialist Hospital in Bauchi for treatment.
The report stated that medical personnel later confirmed the deaths of two persons identified as Al Amin Mohammad Aliyu and Jibir Shuaibu, both residents of Inkil community.
Makama said security operatives have since been deployed to the affected communities to restore normalcy, while security agencies continue to monitor developments to forestall a breakdown of law and order and prevent further violence.
The report added that investigations into the incident are ongoing and that those responsible for the violence would be brought to justice.
