The New York Mets certainly have learned how to disappoint their fans over time.

They’re doing that in a pretty painful way so far in the early going of the 2026 MLB season.
They’ve already had four different hitters with streaks of at least 0-for-17 in a row.
Two of the streaks are active:
-
Mark Vientos is 0 for his last 23.
-
Brett Baty is 0 for his last 17.
Earlier this season, rookie Carson Benge had an 0-for-24 stretch.
Marcus Semien also had an 0-for-20 streak earlier in the campaign.
MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo writes that “no other team has had four players with hitless streaks of that length this season.”
