The New York Mets announced on Saturday that they have activated outfielder Juan Soto from the 10-day injured list.
The star outfielder had been sidelined since July 24, dealing with a calf injury. It will be interesting to see how Soto is used after activation because he did not go through a rehab assignment, as was reported by MLB.com’s Anthony Dicomo.

Before the injury, Soto had played in 84 games for New York. He is slashing .283/.408/.539 this season with 21 home runs and 52 RBI.
The 2026 All-Star has split time between left field and being the Mets’ designated hitter, playing 52 games in left field.
With Soto sidelined, New York had recently leaned on Luis Robert Jr. in left field while Brett Baty and Christopher Morel were among those swapped in as the DH.
The Mets enter Saturday with a 60-75 record, sitting in last place in the NL East. Furthermore, New York has the third-fewest wins in the National League, trailing only the San Francisco Giants (55) and the Colorado Rockies (52).

New York is likely hoping that Soto can add a spark to the offense. The Mets have dropped three games in a row and four of their past five games. Without Soto, New York tallied a 17-14 record in the 31 games he missed.
The Mets take on the Astros in the second game of their three-game weekend series on Saturday. Houston took the series’ opener on Friday, 3-1.
