Lionel Messi has become all too familiar to American audiences since his move to Inter Miami in Major League Soccer (MLS), but ahead of the FIFA World Cup in the United States, there was a bigger reason to cheer for college football fans at the Texas A&M University, as the global football icon set foot on their soil for a soccer game.
Messi and the Argentine squad headed to Kyle Field for their World Cup preparation game against Honduras, and it appears Texas A&M took the opportunity to introduce Messi to one of their own top stars in Marcel Reed.

The quarterback was seen posing with Messi with a football shirt as a present for the soccer superstar as the duo exchanged pleasantries and pictures before the game. Texas A&M showcased it as the meeting of the two no. 10’s. Some fans however, didn’t take too kindly to the moment and pointed out how Messi likely didn’t even recognize the young QB.
“Marcel Reed? 😂😂 Might as well say some random guy off the street,” one fan said.
“Messi just gonna toss that jersey in the trash,”another fan commented.
“Messi has no idea who that is. That why he held his own jersey and didn’t get one in return,”another fan noted.

“Messi didn’t know make a wish was on his schedule” a fan remarked.
“Is it really a jersey swap if Messi didn’t give Marcel a jersey 😭,” another fan said.
Argentina won the game against Honduras 2-0 but sadly for those in attendance, Lionel Messi could not play a part in the clash.
The former Barcelona star has been recovering from a hamstring injury and wants to get himself fully fit for the crucial games that Argentina have once the World Cup officially begins.
For Marcel Reed, however, this will be a moment of a lifetime which the Aggies star will likely not forget for a very long time to come.
