PHILADELPHIA – A violent holiday weekend in Philadelphia as eight shootings across the city left four people dead and 14 others injured.
What we know:
The first shooting happened at the intersection of Ditman Street and Sanger Street just after 11 p.m. Friday. Both a 15-year-old boy and 35-year-old man were shot in the leg and taken to the hospital in stable condition.
A quintuple shooting unfolded just hours later on the 1000 block of Green Street around 1 a.m. Saturday. A 21-year-old man was killed, and four other victims were treated at a local hospital in stable condition. Two of the victims were 17 and 18-year-old girls.
About an hour later, a deadly triple shooting broke out on the 5100 block of Bible Way around 2:20 a.m. Three men were rushed to a local hospital; one succumbed to his injuries.
Later Saturday morning, a chase ended with an officer-involved shooting near Kensington Avenue and Hart Lane. Police say the officer shot the suspect when he raised a gun during a struggle. The suspect is in stable condition.
On Sunday, a 20-year-old man was shot in the shoulder on the 2200 block of North 8th Street just before 1 a.m. About 20 minutes later, a man was fatally shot on the 4300 block of Rising Sun Avenue.
Later Sunday evening, police say a man was killed during a self-defense shooting at Royal Farms in Frankford. A bystand was taken into custody for tampering with evidence.
Four people are recovering after a shooting broke out at a garage party in Olney just after midnight on Monday. A teen suspect is in custody.
What we don’t know:
No arrests have been made in several of the shootings, and the motives are still unknown. Police have yet to release any possible suspect descriptions.
