The long and winding legal road for Mark Sanchez, following an incident in Indianapolis that ended with him in the hospital, is going to continue for a bit longer.
After several court-date delays, Sanchez pleaded guilty last month, though it was unknown which charges he was pleading guilty to; among those he faced were battery causing serious injury, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication. A change-of-plea hearing in the criminal case was scheduled for Nov. 9 in Marion Superior Court.

However, this one too has been rescheduled.
According to Austin Hanson at Fox 59, Sanchez’s change-of-plea hearing has been moved. While changes in Indiana’s public court reporting system on Wednesday initially suggested that the hearing had been canceled, further additions on Thursday confirmed the hearing had been rescheduled to Jan. 25, 2027.
Also noted in the Thursday update was that the judge assigned to the case, Helen W. Marchal, recused herself, though no reason was given for the recusal. The January hearing will take place before Judge Angela Dow Davis.
Sanchez, who was in Indianapolis to call a Colts game on Oct. 5 last year, was involved in a violent altercation outside his hotel with 69-year-old truck driver Perry Tole. The former NFL quarterback, who is believed to have been intoxicated, allegedly confronted the man inside the cab of his delivery truck. Tole, who claimed he believed his life was in danger, pepper-sprayed and stabbed Sanchez in self-defense. Both men were hospitalized after the incident. Fox Sports suspended Sanchez and later fired him.

Sanchez and former employer Fox also faced a civil suit stemming from the incident. According to court records, he and Tole reached an agreement in principle that will end the civil suit against the former NFL quarterback. Tole’s attorneys are expected to file a motion to dismiss the civil case by Jan. 8.
