    Maria Bartiromo Abruptly Departs Fox News After More Than 12 Years

    Maria Bartiromo is headed off air. 

    After more than a decade as an anchor on Fox Business, parent company Fox Media confirmed she had departed the network on Sept. 3.

    “Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with FOX News Media,” the company said in a statement shared online. “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 1/2 years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.”

    The statement did not supply a reason for the change, but it noted that the final episode of Bartiromo’s daytime series Mornings With Maria had aired that morning, and that her Fox News show Sunday Morning Futures, will be hosted by Jason Chaffetz this week with a permanent replacement announced at a later date. 

    Her third series, Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street, which airs on Fridays will be shifting to FBN’s Wall Street. The series will be hosted this week by Cheryl Casone and will have rotating anchors in the coming weeks, the network said in its news release.

    E! News reached out to an agent for Bartiromo for comment but has not yet heard back. 

    So far, the 58-year-old has yet to comment publicly on her departure.

    During her almost 13 years with the network, she interviewed President Donald Trump and moderated two debates during the 2016 presidential election. 

    Following the news of her exit, speculation began to circulate that Bartiromo may be tapped to step into the role of White House Press Secretary after Karoline Leavitt stepped down from the position at the end of August. 

    Vice President JD Vance, however, told reporters he didn’t know when asked if that was the case and then added, “I don’t think so,” per MS NOW.

    “I just saw the news literally as I walked out,” he added. “I love Maria. I think she’s an amazing person, amazing talent. I don’t get involved in the personal drama of media stations.”

    “I wish her all the best,” he added. “She’s a very, very dear friend.”
