One person was injured and sent to hospital after a collision with a commercial truck in Surrey Saturday morning.

The Surrey Police Service said the collision between a five-tonne commercial vehicle and a car happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 10 and 192 Street.

Firefighters used the jaws of life to extract the driver and sole occupant of the car, who was transported to hospital. At first, police said the driver had been seriously injured; by Saturday afternoon, police said “their condition has improved (and) their injuries are no longer considered serious.”

The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured and remained at the site to speak with police.

Highway 10 at 192 Street had lane closures into Saturday afternoon as investigators collected evidence. The road has now reopened.
