Man allegedly stabbed his brother to death for not cleaning the kitchen

MINNEAPOLIS (TCN) — A man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of his brother.
WKRC reportsthat on April 30 at around 3 a.m., police responded to a call from a woman who said her boyfriend was wounded and unconscious. When officers arrived, they attempted lifesaving measures on the victim, whose name and age have not been released. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman who dialed 911 said that shortly before the incident, she and the victim were making food in the kitchen when the victim’s brother, 23-year-old Javontae Simms, allegedly confronted the victim about not cleaning the kitchen. She told police he said, “If you don’t start cleaning up after yourself, it’s going to be an issue between you and me,” according to WKRC.
Simms allegedly left the kitchen and returned with a knife, and an altercation between Simms and the victim became physical and ended with Simms allegedly stabbing the victim in the chest.
According to WKRC, when police arrived, Simms was allegedly hiding in the basement under the stairs. Police allege he told them he meant to pretend to stab his brother but that the victim ran into the knife. He was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
Law & Crime reports Simms is in jail on $1 million bond.
