LIV Golf opened themselves up to further criticism after taking to social media to praise the form that Dustin Johnson has shown in the majors this year.
Of course, it is going to be a quiet few weeks for those on LIV. Their next event will not be played until after The Open Championship has been and gone.

Ultimately, the US Open proved to be another huge disappointment for the league, despite Tyrrell Hatton and Joaquin Niemann finishing inside the top 10 at Shinnecock Hills.
Both Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm missed the cut in New York. The pair had made bright starts, with Rahm not making a single bogey during his opening round. However, neither made it through to the weekend.
In fact, Dustin Johnson is now the only LIV player who could make the cut at all four major championships in 2026.
He does still need to qualify for The Open Championship.
Johnson deserves credit for being the last man standing for LIV. However, that does not mean that he has been anywhere near being ‘one of the hottest players’ in the majors – as the league claimed on their social media channels on Wednesday.

Admittedly, he is one of only 22 players to make the cut at all three majors so far this year. That is impressive.
But what LIV failed to mention in their post on X was the fact that the two-time major champion has not finished inside the top 30 at any of those events. His best finish of the year so far came at the US Open as he ended up in a tie for 32nd.
Unsurprisingly, the LIV account received a number of replies from truly baffled golf fans.
LIV have struggled to endear themselves to many for a number of reasons over the years. And the post about Johnson is a very good example of why many have taken a strong dislike to the league.

In 2020, Johnson won one major and finished inside the top six at the other two that were played.
The fact that he is being lauded for his results this year arguably says so much more about how far his stock has fallen since he decided to sign with LIV.
Instead, LIV would rather paint a completely different picture.
It was noticeable at their event in Mexico City that The Masters was barely mentioned on the coverage unless Tyrrell Hatton was being shown. Hatton was the only LIV player who finished inside the top 30 at Augusta National.
LIV are trying to put themselves in the shop window right now as they seek new investment for next season and beyond.

However, you would really hope that Scott O’Neil and the decision-makers are also working behind the scenes to figure out what it is that is stopping their players from performing well in the majors.
It is a big mistake if they are going to bury their heads in the sand and simply act as if Dustin Johnson has had the kind of year in the majors that needs celebrating.
