The LSU Tigers are heading into a new era with head coach Lane Kiffin, but the college football veteran has mysteriously disappeared from the internet a month before the SEC season begins.
Kiffin certainly boasts a entertaining record on social media outside of his success on the football field. However, many fans have been wondering why he’s been silent on social media dating back to May.

Kiffin finally answered that question Thursday, and it comes down to his son, Knox Kiffin. Reporters spoke with the Tigers coach during 2026 SEC Football Kickoff Media Days, and he says he deleted all social apps off his phone months ago.
“It’s been really freeing because what you do at the end of the day is you don’t compare anything. … (And) comparison is the thief of joy,” Kiffin told SEC reporters (via On3’s Andy Staples).

The longtime coach has a significant track record when it comes to trolling the college football community. Although, it seems like he’s done with the internet games for now, the season is still over a month away.

Kiffin takes over at LSU after spending last season with the Ole Miss Rebels, who reached the College Football Playoff. Meanwhile, the Tigers feature one of the most anticipated games of the year against Ole Miss on Sept. 19.
It’s highly likely that tensions will rise leading up to that occasion after Kiffin left Ole Miss in the midst of their 2025 CFP run. Several high-profile players that Kiffin coached, including Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy, remain with the Rebels despite him leaving for Baton Rouge.

Barstool podcast “Pardon My Take” jokingly pointed out to Kiffin months back that he’s not the best with breakups. That includes abruptly leaving several jobs in the past for other gigs.

The 51 year old is now on his fifth head coaching gig in college football following a stint with the Las Vegas Raiders. However, he remains one of the most entertaining characters in the sport despite the antics that always follow Kiffin.
