Watch: Kristi Noem Files for Divorce From Bryon Noem 6 Months After Photo Scandal
Bryon Noem is speaking out.
Days after politician Kristi Noem filed for divorce from him after 34 years of marriage, the 56-year-old shared a message through his lawyer about how he’s coping with the breakup.
“Bryon is saddend that the marriage is ending,” his attorney Tim Bottum told TMZ in a statement published Sept. 30, “and hopes for a private and amicable resolution.”
And the attorney also addressed when Bryon might respond to allegations that he had been living a double life while married to Kristi, which surfaced after photos of what appeared to be Bryon dressed in women’s clothing and donning fake breasts were published by the Daily Mail March 31.
“If court proceedings become necessary,” the statement continued, “Bryon will welcome the opportunity to truthfully share his perspective.”
And in the meantime, Bryon—who has also been accused of chatting in online fetish forums with models—plans to focus on his and Kristi’s kids: daughters Kassidy, 32, and Kennedy, 29, and son Booker, 24.
As the lawyer added, “Bryon’s priority is to protect the family and move forward as loving parents and grandparents.”
Kristi, 54, filed for divorce from Bryon in South Dakota Sept. 28, citing irreconcilable differences as the cause for their split, according to court documents reviewed by E! News.

The couple’s separation arrived just months after a rep for the former Department of Homeland Security head shared that she was “devastated” by the images that had circulated of her husband, who was her high school sweetheart.
“The family was blindsided by this,” her rep told The New York Post in a statement on March 31, “and they ask for privacy and prayers at the time.”
Prior to the scandal, Kristi said she prided herself on remaining an “open book” when it comes to her personal life.
“People know me and we are such a transparent family,” the former South Dakota governor told Elysian in 2022. “I don’t know of another elected official that puts their family life out there, with their kids. All the funny, awkward, difficult moments.”
