At the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, it was the New York Knicks who threw the first haymaker over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1 of the NBA finals, defeating the Spurs 105-95 to go up 1-0 in the series.

The Knicks, who entered their first NBA Finals in 27 years riding an 11-game win streak, found themselves down by as much as 14 in the third quarter. But, behind Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson — who briefly left the game in the first quarter with a knee injury and also tweaked his ankle in the game — New York stormed all the way back. Brunson finished with 30 points as the Knicks finished the game on a 11-0 run.
On the other side, the Spurs were unable to produce down the stretch. Victor Wembanyama finished with 26 points but only shot 6-for-21 from the field along with 12-of-13 from the free throw line. San Antonio was aided by Dylan Harper, who became the youngest player in NBA history to score double digits in a finals game with 16, along with Stephon Castle‘s 17 and Julian Champagnie‘s 16.
After the back-and-forth affair, it was Brunson and the Eastern Conference champion Knicks who were dominant down the stretch en route to a statement Game 1 victory. The teams return to action on Friday for Game 2, where the Spurs look to even the series.

11:15 p.m.: The New York Knicks draw first blood in the NBA Finals.
Trailing by as much as 14 in the contest, the Knicks stormed all the way back for a 105-95 victory, their 12th straight of the playoffs. They were led by none other than Brunson, who had 30 to lead all scorers.
The teams return to action on Friday night at the Frost Bank Center where the Spurs look to even the series.
11:08 p.m.: Brunson is up to 30, making a ridiculous shot, then on the other end Anunoby gets fouled after a Wembanyama miss.
The Knicks forward is going to the line with 29 seconds left.

11:06 p.m.: Right after San Antonio takes the lead, Brunson hits a corner three to put the Knicks ahead.
Then, after Fox misses a shot, Bridges gets fouled. He makes both to make it 99-95.
11:05 p.m.: Wembanyama is heading to the line with a chance to give the Spurs the lead.
He hits both and it’s 95-94.
11:02 p.m.: Wembanyama is now having his own explosion on the Spurs end of the floor.
He drives on Towns, makes the basket and a foul is called. He hits a free throw and the Knicks lead is one.
10:57 p.m.: Desperately needing a score, Wembanyama nails a three over Robinson to cut the Knicks lead to five.

10:55 p.m.: It’s a 8-0 run for Brunson and now an eight-point lead for the New York Knicks.
Robinson seals off Wembanyama and No. 11 finishes; he has come alive and is up to 25.
10:48 p.m.: After hitting a layup last time down, Brunson hits two free throws to get up to 21 points. He’s the only player in the game with 20 or more.
Then, the Spurs can’t score and Brunson scores again; the Knicks are up six.
10:43 p.m.: With 7:37 left, the game is tied at 86.
We’re coming down to the wire in San Antonio.
10:42 p.m.: The teams are exchanging threes, with Anunoby hitting another before Castle makes one at the other end.

The Knicks lead 86-84 with over eight minutes left.
10:40 p.m.: The Knicks lead by four with Anunoby hitting a three after Wembanyama, who is now 4-for-15 from the field, gets a tip to himself.
It’s New York’s largest lead of the half.
10:32 p.m.: At the end of three, this game is tied at 76.
After McBride banked in a triple, Game 1 of the NBA Finals will head to the fourth quarter all square. The Knicks stormed back from double digits behind Towns.
Buckle up, it’s time for the fourth quarter.
10:28 p.m.: This game is tied, with Brunson hitting a shot over Champagnie from the right elbow, and the Knicks have stormed all the way back.

10:26 p.m.: Towns is showing out.
Now, he gets another offensive rebound over Keldon Johnson and puts it in while getting fouled.
After hitting the free throw, the Spurs lead is two, the smallest it’s been since halftime.
10:25 p.m.: The lead is cut to three, with Towns getting an offensive rebound and putting it in.
Then, on the other end, Fox hits a jumper from the elbow to make it 71-66.
10:20 p.m.: Now, the Knicks have scored seven in a row and it’s a six point game.
Mitch Johnson calls a timeout with just under five minutes remaining in the third.
10:18 p.m.: New York has cut the deficit to eight.

It’s Towns who takes advantage of Wembanyama not being on the court, with No. 32 driving on Luke Kornet and getting the foul and the bucket.
Towns is up to 13 on the night.
10:11 p.m.: With 7:04 remaining in the game, the Spurs have their largest lead of the game at 13.
The Knicks are missing shots while San Antonio looks to extend the lead.
10:09 p.m.: Towns gets New York’s first basket, but on the other end, he fouls Wembanyama, who will go to the line for two shots.
He hits both and the Spurs lead is up to 11.
10:05 p.m.: Two minutes in and New York is still searching for its first field goal of the second half.

The Knicks have been uncharacteristically cold from three and Brunson is 5-for-16 from the field.
10:01 p.m.: It’s time for the third quarter, with the Spurs coming out of the break with a seven-point lead.
New York shot 41% from the field in the first half with San Antonio at 40%.
9:44 p.m.: With seconds remaining, Fox finds Champagnie in the right corner and he hits his fifth three of the game.
Time expires, and at halftime, it’s the home team Spurs with a seven-point lead. Champaignie has 11 threes in his last two games and leads scoring in the contest. On the other side, Brunson leads the Knicks with 11.

9:41 p.m.: Champagnie has four three pointers in the first half, this one giving San Antonio a four-point lead.
It’s 50-46 as the clock ticks under a minute.
9:36 p.m.: Brunson has come alive, sparking a personal 8-0 run to give the Knicks a 38-37 lead.
Then, on the other hand, Harper finishes a layup right away.
9:31 p.m.: Brunson gets a tough finish over Kornet, but he hurts his ankle in the process and is in pain.
At the commercial timeout, he’s limping towards the bench.
9:27 p.m.: The foul was overruled, with it going the other way on towns.
There’s eight minutes remaining in the second, and Brunson is back in the game.

9:23 p.m.: Towns will head to the line for two shots after getting fouled by Wembanyama and a hard fall.
But, the Spurs are challenging.
9:21 p.m.: Brunson is back on the bench, and he’s heading back to center court to re-enter the game.
He’s set to check in at the next whistle.
9:18 p.m.: The Knicks get a much-needed three from Deuce McBride, then the next possession Jose Alvarado goes past Wembanyama and it’s a golatending.
The Spurs lead is back to one possession after a 5-0 run.
9:12 p.m.: At the end of one, it’s the Spurs who have an eight point lead. Harper leads scoring with 10 as San Antonio has stormed to a comfortable lead.

9:10 p.m.: It’s not a good sign for New York, with Brunson heading to the locker room.
9:09 p.m.: The Knicks have gone cold, and on the other end, it’s Harper who is up to 10 points after another tough finish.

9:07 p.m.: The Spurs lead is up to eight after a Champagnie triple. But, the biggest worry is Jalen Brunson, who was grabbing his knee after the play.

9:02 p.m.: It’s eight straight points for Harper, who hits a three in the right corner. Then, Shamet hits one of his own before Julain Champagnie gets in on the action.
It’s 22-17 San Antonio.
9:00 p.m.: The Spurs have their first lead of the game, courtesy of Dylan Harper.
After a Knicks turnover, Harper drives in, gets the bucket to go and gets fouled by Landry Shamet. He hits the free throw and is up to five points.
8:58 p.m.: Both teams have gone cold from the field with the Knicks leading by three.
With 4:33 left in the first, it’s Knicks possession.
8:50 p.m.: At the first commercial break, the Knicks lead by five in a back-and-forth quarter.

8:48 p.m.: With the Knicks up 10-4, Hart goes right at Wembanyama and is stuffed by the star. Then, on the other end, Wembanyama hits a spot up three to make it 10-7.
8:45 p.m.: We have tipped off in San Antonio.
Towns wins the tip over Wembanyama, and the Knicks have the first possession. Guess what? It’s Brunson who hits a three.
Then, on the other hand, it’s Wembanyama who gets on the board and it’s 3-2.
