Former Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp revealed that the Premier League club tried really hard to sign French star Kylian Mbappé in 2017 when he was still playing at Monaco.
The Liverpool delegation travelled to Nice on a private jet to meet Mbappé and his family.

“We flew from Blackpool to Nice. In Nice, the entire Mbappé family boarded a private jet with five rooms or something,” Klopp recounted on MagentaTV ahead of the World Cup quarter-final between France and Morocco on Thursday.
“We really went all in. We flew around in circles, talked with the family, and had a delicious meal. We couldn’t be seen…We flew around in circles. It was fantastic. And then he went to Paris!”
In the end, Mbappé joined Paris Saint-Germain in a €180 million ($296.4 million) transfer.
Klopp added that he also would have liked to sign Ousmane Dembélé, but he decided to leave Rennes and join Klopp’s former club Borussia Dortumud in 2016.
“I don’t know now if he even knew who we were,” Klopp said.
