The Kentucky Wildcats baseball team got bounced in the first round of the SEC Tournament by the Vanderbilt Commodores earlier this week. As their resume took a big hit, the Cats might find themselves outside of the field of 64 on Monday.
In D1 Baseball’s latest projection, Nick Mingione’s ball club is the second-to-last team in the field, which is not an ideal spot due to bid stealers throughout conference tournaments. NC State, East Carolina, and Michigan are also on the ‘last four in’ line.

In Baseball America’s latest field of 64 projection, the Wildcats have now jumped back into the tournament, as they were projected to be the last team out just yesterday.
Jacob Rudner, at BA, said in his latest article, on Thursday morning, ‘When you start comparing the Wildcats schedule to other bubble teams, it gets increasingly difficult to leave the Wildcats on the outside looking in.’
It wasn’t the season the Wildcats had hoped for, as the team won just two of 10 weekend series in SEC play, but hopefully this team will still have something to play for, as it looks like they could have a chance to reach an NCAA Regional.
