Watch: Kate Hudson and Ex-Husband Chris Robinson Reunite at Son Ryder’s College Graduation
Kate Hudson and ex Chris Robinson reunited for a cap-tivating occasion.
Indeed, the former couple came together to celebrate their son Ryder‘s college graduation from NYU in New York City May 16.
And Kate, 47, shared photos from the family affair, writing in a May 21 Instagram post, “My college graduate!!!!!!”
Among the photos from the celebration was a sweet snap of the Running Point star and her ex-husband Chris with their son. In the shot, the pair—who were married from 2000 to 2007—were all smiles as they posed with Ryder, 22, who was clad in a NYU purple gown and black graduation cap, for the photo in front of Radio City Music Hall.
Chris—who welcomed Ryder with Kate in 2004—was also seen embracing the college graduate in another heartwarming shot.
And Kate’s blended family made sure Ryder’s special day was full of love. After all, his grandparents Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell also showed up for the celebration, posing with Kate and her son at the commencement ceremony in Yankee Stadium.
Her two younger kids also got in on the fun. Ryder’s graduation photos showed Kate and fiancé Danny Fujikawa‘s daughter Rani, 7, helping the Almost Famous actress get ready for the ceremony, and a snap of Ryder posing with Rani and his brother Bingham, 14, whom Kate shares with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy.
And Ryder’s degree from New York University’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts only further proves he’s following in his parents’ footsteps.
In fact, Kate recently shared her thoughts on her children working in the entertainment industry, telling E! News in an April interview, “I don’t see a way out of it.”
According to Kate, her kids are born ready for show business.
“Our family, I feel like we come out either with doing a scene [or] dancing,” she joked. “I don’t know what it is about the DNA in our family.”
“It’s kind of crazy,” she added. “Everybody in our family … it’s definitely a showbiz thing, or it’s just a creative storyteller has to be doing something performance oriented, all of them.”

And Chris—who is the lead singer of The Black Crowes—can already see Ryder following that path.
“He’s kind of leaning into maybe [pursuing] acting more,” he told People in a February interview, “but he’s a very, very good singer, and he’s a really good guitar player, and he loves music. And, yeah, I just couldn’t be more proud of him.”
