Watch: Kate Hudson Reveals Her Dream of Working With Mom Goldie Hawn
Kate Hudson’s and Brenda Song’s kids may be running toward the big screen someday.
The Running Point costars shared their thoughts about their children possibly following in their footsteps into showbiz.
As Kate exclusively told E! News’ Will Marfuggi in a joint interview with Brenda and Running Point co-creator Mindy Kaling, “I don’t see a way out of it.”
Brenda—who shares kids Dakota, 4, and Carson, 3, with fiancé Macaulay Culkin—agreed, saying, “There’s no way.”
“My kids are only 3 and 5. They’re still really young,” she continued. “But the 3-year-old, I’m like, ‘Oh no. I can see it!’”
And as for Kate—who shares son Ryder, 22, with ex-husband Chris Robinson, sonBingham, 14, with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy and daughter Rani, 7, with fiancé Danny Fujikawa—she said her family members were bornready for showbiz.
“Our family, I feel like we come out either with doing a scene [or] dancing,” she joked. “I don’t know what it is about the DNA in our family.”
“It’s kind of crazy,” she added. “Everybody in our family … it’s definitely a showbiz thing, or it’s just a creative storyteller has to be doing something performance oriented, all of them.”
While the actress—whose mom Goldie Hawn and stepdad Kurt Russell are, of course, legendary actors—shared that people in her family seem to only have actor offspring, they stress that if that if you aren’t in love with show business, you shouldn’t be in it.
“In our family, love it,” Kate said. “If you don’t love it, get out.”
The 46-year-old explained that her family is “very practical” about how “unpredictable and unstable” the business can be.
“If you really love it, then you’re gonna love even the moments that are hard, where you know you have to figure out other means so that you can pay for your kids in school and things like that,” Kate said. “You will always know that you’re in the right business, because you just have to do it.”

Meanwhile, Mindy—who is mom to Katherine, 8, Spencer, 5, and Anne, 2—shared that her children have also expressed interest in her work in Hollywood, but you will not find them on the Running Point set. And not just because the Netflix series films while they’re in school.
“My kids would die to come to set,” Mindy said. “They think it’s so glamorous, and there’s like endless candy—which there is kind of—but then they would sit at video village, and be like, ‘I’m bored!’”
Running Point season two begins streaming April 23 on Netflix, and will see Kate’s Isla Gordon proving she has what it takes to lead the Los Angeles Waves—and take the team all the way to the top, while also juggling her personal life and family drama.
