Watch: Liam Payne’s Girlfriend Kate Cassidy Explains Why She’s Removing Tattoo Tributes to Him
Kate Cassidy is remembering the little things about Liam Payne.
Two years after the One Direction alum’s tragic death, the influencer—who began dating Payne in 2022—shed light on their final moments together.
In a video shared to her Instagram Oct. 16, Payne lifted Cassidy up over his head as she squealed with delight before the pair smiled for the camera as they enjoyed a gloomy farm outing.
“Treasure every moment with the people you love,” Cassidy wrote over the clip. “Forever grateful this was our last hour, our last video, our last moment together. Until the next life, I’ll see you again one day.”
The tribute comes exactly two years after Payne—who shared 9-year-old son Bear with ex Cheryl Cole—died in October 2024 following a fall from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires. He was 31.
As Cassidy captioned her post alongside a red heart emoji, “2 years.”
Since Payne’s death, the 27-year-old has been candid about how the loss has affected her personal life.
“Dating after losing somebody that you genuinely thought you were gonna spend the rest of your life with is really tough,” she said in a June 22 TikTok, “because I physically look for Liam in every single guy that I meet.”
In fact, she added, “If they don’t hit all the check marks, I tend to either back away or almost resent this person. And it’s so crazy.”

That’s why Cassidy has made it a priority to pour into herself as she continues to grieve. Indeed, she recently shared she would be removing quite a few tattoos, including a pair of angel wings, a star and the number four—her and Payne’s angel number—which she got in honor of the “Little Things” singer.
But it’s not because she’s leaving him in her past.
“The only reason that I am lasering off these tattoos is literally just because they are too thick for my liking,” Cassidy said in a July 29 TikTok. “These are the very first tattoos I ever received—I’ve already talked about this before—and I went somewhere really random and I asked for a fine line tattoo.”

“The meaning behind all of my tattoos are so so special to me,” she continued. “So, I am not lasering them off for any other means other than the fact that I’m gonna get them redone somewhere else that has experience in fine line tattoos and just get them moved down.”
And while changing up her look is a small step forward, Cassidy shared she’s still trying to cope with her new life without Payne in it.
“You don’t move on from grief,” she wrote on TikTok in February. “You move forward with it, carrying love in a different form. Keep living. Keep going. Live your life as fully as you possibly can.”
