    Watch: Kaia Gerber Slams “Serial Dater” and “Slut” Labels After High-Profile Romances

    Kaia Gerber is feeling the thorns of dating in the spotlight.

    The Shards star clapped back at public judgement she’s felt for her dating history, which includes Jacob Elordi, Austin Butler and Pete Davidson. 

    “There are so few things you get to protect as a famous person, and being defined by who you date when you’re 18 is something I find challenging,” Kaia—the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford and entrepreneur Rande Gerber—told Vogue in an interview published Aug. 11. “I think I’ve been labeled in ways that are quite misogynistic: serial dater, slut, greedy.”

    That said, the 24-year-old has developed thick skin, likening the backlash to growing pains in the industry.

    “My mom is always like, Just don’t make the same mistake twice,” she said. “And I’m pretty good at not.”

    That’s why the Bottoms actress—who’s now dating Lewis Pullman, the son of Independence Day actor Bill Pullman—prioritizes keeping her private life balanced.

    “The ultimate goal is that your relationship doesn’t change you, that you’re not code switching between relationship, friendship, professional life,” Kaia explained. “I would love to always feel like me, and in this relationship I’m having the pleasure of doing that.”

    However, staying true to herself while dating wasn’t always easy for Kaia.

    “I used to be the opposite way where I would completely just change my personality, really, my values for someone,” she detailed during a 2025 episode of Therapuss. “I always dated people that were older than me, and so I was very willing to give up everything.”

    As Kaia has become equally known for her onscreen work, she’s also contended with the label nepo baby.

    “I’ve only ever been a nepo baby, and I’ve only ever benefited in my career from it,” Kaia said in her Vogue interview. “But I also find myself doing it to other nepo babies, thinking, ‘OK, show me why you deserve this job.'”

    As such, she had some homegrown advice for her The Shards costar Homer Gere, whose dad Richard Gere was married her mom Cindy from 1991 until 1995.

    “I said to him, ‘Homer, unfortunately with this show, it’s not like you’re just any unknown actor and people will judge you as an unknown actor,'” Kaia continued. “‘But what that’s done for me is make me want to work harder.'”

    Jerry O’ConnellThe former co-host of The Talk will be sure to stand by his and wife Rebecca Romijn‘s twin daughters Charlie and Dolly, even prepping them ahead of future criticism they may face. “They’re going to call you a nepo baby,” he recounted to Us Weekly the advice he gave. “It’s coming. The nepo baby is coming.”He added, “You have to work for this. There’s no shortcuts. It’s going to be even harder for you!”But he is, of course, willing to help out his daughters.“I can sit down with my daughter who’s auditioning for a high school play at a diner, and I can say, ‘This is how you should say this line. This is how you should say this line. This is how you should say this line,’” he shared. “And it’s the only thing that I can impart on my children.”

    Stellan SkarsgårdThe Dune actor—who is dad to actors Alexander Skarsgård and Bill Skarsgård—addressed the concept of nepo babies while sharing his youngest son Kolbjörn was facing criticism in school for having a famous dad.“When his pals at school call him nepo baby, he gets so sad,” he told Vulture. “He doesn’t have any friends at school. He gets isolated. Cruel kids—or cruel and ignorant. They love it on the internet.””But it is such a bulls–t thing,” Stellan continued, “because nobody would hire you, at least not for anything good, if you’re not good enough.”
