The preseason is here as the Cincinnati Bengals look to bounce back after an up-and-down 2025 season. With a revamped defense, the team will now look to maintain the consistent offensive production it has had since Joe Burrow took over as QB1.
A main piece to that puzzle will be the play of running back Chase Brown. Bursting onto the scene a few years back, Brown is now the clear-cut RB1 for the Bengals and has the complete trust of Burrow.

The franchise QB even had some high praise for him after one of the team’s recent practices.
“He’s taken a leap every single year, and that’s been exciting to watch,” Burrow said. “I can’t say enough good things about him.”
There’s also an interesting note from ESPN’s Ben Solak, who says the Bengals have had Brown line up in the slot on occasion.
“I saw multiple snaps of running back Chase Brown lined up in the slot, flying across the formation in jet motion as if he were a receiver,” Solak wrote. “Again, the Bengals are very comfortable just trying stuff out on offense at this stage of the summer.

“But Brown did have 45 snaps in the slot (and another 25 out wide) last season as the Bengals prefer to use him as a pass catcher and not a pass protector. Four of Brown’s five receiving touchdowns in 2025 came with Burrow at QB, and on two of the four, Brown was lined up out wide.”
Brown has dominated in both the rushing and receiving games in Zac Taylor’s offense, and will look to continue to do that once again this season. With Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins still in the fold, it should once again give Brown plenty of open space moving forward as the Bengals look to get back to the playoffs.
