Jessica Biel Reveals Son Silas Makes Cameo in Matchbox: The Movie

In the action film, which premieres on Apple TV Oct. 9, a group of childhood friends—including Biel, John Cena, Arturo Castro and Sam Richardson—reunite, only for an unexpected turn of events to force them to work together on an international mission to save the world.

And while Silas and Phineas are no strangers to mingling with Hollywood’s biggest stars, Biel noted working alongside Cena on the film scored her a few extra cool mom points. 

“They’re so funny. Like, I feel like their brains implode whenever they come to set, especially a set like this, where there’s a hero of theirs that they’re meeting,” she explained. “There’s cool action sequences, there’s fight sequences.”

And for her youngest son, movie magic is very much still real.

“I think he was like, ‘Is this real? Is this not real?’ John just got punched and he fell on the ground,’” she recalled, “and so I don’t even know what’s happening to their brains or what they’re thinking. It’s just a lot of confusion. My 11-year-old is like, ‘I know what this is,’ but the 6-year-old is still like, ‘What’s happening here? Cannot compute.’”

And while Cena might be one of her sons’ heroes, Biel certainly came to her costar Castro’s rescue as he previously revealed she gave him advice on how to plan his proposal to now-wife Lauren Hoover, with whom he’s currently expecting his first baby.

After all, she’s certainly an expert in lasting love, celebrating 14 years of marriage with Timberlake. As such, she certainly knows the secret to bringing the sexy back to any relationship.

“Communication, communication, communication, and never stop dating,” she advised the newlyweds. “Keep showing up for each other like it was the first day.”
