Jared Verse was a huge piece of the Myles Garrett trade package for the Cleveland Browns, but the pass rusher hasn’t performed to expectations.

Verse entered the game without a sack and with just 10 tackles so far in 2026, but the Browns were 5-2 regardless. The team’s record had Verse feeling good with the Pittsburgh Steelers coming up, especially after Cleveland beat Pittsburgh earlier this year.
While Verse let everyone know his intent to “dominate” the Steelers, it was Pittsburgh that dominated on Sunday with a 27-6 blowout. The win marked the 23rd straight season that the Steelers beat the Browns in the regular season at home.
After the game, veteran safety Jaquan Brisker let the world know what he thought of Verse’s trash talk. Here’s what he said.

Jared Verse spent the week leading up to the game extremely confident in his and the defense’s abilities to succeed against the Steelers. After Cameron Hayward said the Steelers would take care of business against the Browns, Verse responded by saying he would “dominate” in Pittsburgh.
“I’m not worried about Cam. I’m not worried about their O-line, I’m not worried about anyone on their team,” Verse said before the game. “We out there to go dominate. About to make Pittsburgh ours on Sunday.”
Perhaps, though, Verse wasn’t aware that the Browns haven’t won a regular season game in Pittsburgh since 2003, which was when Verse was just a young child. Then, Verse and the rest of the Browns struggled on Sunday in a blowout loss.

After the game, Jaquan Brisker bluntly called out Verse for giving the team motivation.
“He should have kept his mouth shut. All that talk, and then to come out with zero tackles? You didn’t stand on business,” Brisker said. He gotta look at himself in the mirror and get better.”
The Browns and Steelers are done competing in 2026 unless they meet in the playoffs, which would provide fans with an exciting third chapter in this story.
