The Jacksonville Jaguars are heading into their Week 7 bye with a lot of eyes on them. While the Jaguars lead the AFC South, the attention is not due to how good the team is, but rather to a potential trade.

After not playing a single snap in the second-half of Week 6, Brian Thomas Jr., the Jaguars first-round wide receiver from the 2024 NFL Draft, seems like a very reasonable trade candidate.
Jacksonville hasn’t made their plans known, but ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Saturday morning that multiple NFL executives believe the Jaguars will “seriously consider” a trade of Thomas, which shouldn’t come as a surprise at all.
“Multiple league execs believe Jacksonville will seriously consider trading Brian Thomas Jr. at the deadline now that his role has decreased,” Fowler reports.

This is not a surprise at all for the Jaguars, as all of the signs this season, and even over the NFL offseason, pointed to Thomas being a trade chip.
Parker Washington has completely broken out as a No. 1 wide receiver, and Jakobi Meyers is a very strong No. 2 option in Liam Coen’s offense.
Josh Cameron has played himself into a bigger role, and with Travis Hunter able to get onto the field and make a meaningful impact as a WR, the Jaguars don’t really have a need for Thomas.

While trading him might require the team to explore some WR depth options, the potential return for a trade of the first-rounder might be appealing enough to move the needle for Jacksonville.

Will they actually trade him? It’s not impossible, especially if there’s a team willing to take a chance on Thomas as a long-term option. The Las Vegas Raiders make a ton of sense, as do a team like the New York Giants.
This is a trade situation to closely monitor, as all indications are that a deal is very much under consideration for the Jaguars. It’s not locked in like the Marvin Harrison Jr. trade was, but Thomas is a name to keep a very close eye on going forward this year.
