The NFL world was holding its breath during the Week 8 game between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings after linebacker Jack Campbell suffered a scary neck injury.
Campbell was injured in the fourth quarter of the Lions’ win over the Vikings on Sunday and laid motionless on the field for several minutes before he was eventually loaded onto a stretcher and carted off the field.

It was the kind of nightmare scene nobody ever wants to see for any person and all we could do was wait nervously for good news after the frightening situation.
What made it even scarier was the reactions from players on both teams, including Lions star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, who was understandably brought to tears.

“He’s breathing, he’s alert when he left. I know nothing further. Thoughts and prayers are with Jack. I would ask that everyone does the same,” Campbell said, per Lions beat reporter Brad Galli.
Not long after the Lions head coach’s update, the team revealed that Campbell is now resting at the local hospital he was transported to and the plan is to keep him overnight for “continued evaluation and monitoring.”
“Jack Campbell is resting and will remain in a local hospital tonight, for continued evaluation and monitoring. The team will provide further updates as we have them,” the Lions said in a statement.

Campbell’s injury occurred in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s contest when he attempted to make a tackle on Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson.
So far, these are all positive developments considering the circumstances and how bad things looked initially.
We can only hope there will continue to be good news on Campbell’s status moving forward and he no doubt has everyone’s thoughts and prayers.
