Watch: Jack Antonoff Breaks Silence on Margaret Qualley Breakup With Cheeky Comment
When you know, you know—and Jack Antonoff knew he didn’t want to play this song.
Two months after The Bleachers singer and Margaret Qualley’s break up after nearly three years of marriage was confirmed in July, he broke his silence on the matter with a playful remark at one of his shows.
When a fan asked Antonoff to play his 2017 track “Let’s Get Married” during his Sept. 15 performance at The Troubadour in Los Angeles, the 42-year-old quipped, “Absolutely not.”
“Read the news, brother,” Antonoff—who wed Qualley in 2023—added in a video of the moment shared to social media, before admitting, “I love that song and I wrote it, like, 11 years ago.”
While Antonoff was likely still in a relationship with exLena Dunham—whom he dated between 2012 and 2017—when he penned the aforementioned track, his split from Qualley is what has more recently made headlines.
In July, a rep for Qualley confirmed the split in a statement to E! News while shutting down “categorically untrue” narratives concerning the sources of fracturing.
“There are no trust issues,” the rep said. “There was no infidelity or anything outside of respect and partnership in this relationship.”
Despite the split, Qualley’s rep emphasized she and Antonoff “have deep love and care for one another,” noting some reports in the media weren’t painting an accurate picture.
“There are only two people in this marriage,” they continued, “and the sources who are talking to the press and commenting on their relationship are not people who know them. Please respect their privacy.”

Prior to the breakup confirmation, Antonoff raised questions about his and Qualley’s relationship status when he attended pal Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s July 3 wedding festivities without her, instead stepping out with sister Rachel Antonoff.
Days later, fans noticed that Qualley had archived several photos of her and Antonoff from her Instagram page.
Antonoff and Qualley first sparked romance rumors in 2021, and went on to tie the knot two years later in a New Jersey ceremony attended by Swift, as well as Lana Del Rey and Zoë Kravitz.
Shortly after their wedding, Qualley told Harper’s Bazaar the love she shared with Antonoff was “real.”
“I am so happy that I found my person,” the Maid actress added. “I’m so excited and so at ease all at once.”
