Jac Collinsworth will still be part of NBC’s Sunday Night Football coverage in some capacity, the network confirmed last week.
The son of Cris Collinsworth was excised from Football Night in America as part of broader overhaul that also claimed the seats of Tony Dungy, Rodney Harrison, Chris Simms, and Matthew Berry from the pregame show. He’ll still be on site, though, working alongside Devin McCourty, Jason Garrett, and Mike Florio to host Sunday Night Football Final, a postgame show produced by NBC Sports and streamed exclusively on Peacock. Collinsworth previously hosted the same show with Dungy and Harrison.

For many years, Collinsworth, Dungy, and Harrison traveled on-site each week to whichever stadium hosted that Sunday’s Sunday Night Football game, delivering pregame analysis for the Football Night in America studio show while the network toggled back and forth between their coverage and its in-studio team stationed in Stamford, even though it frequently felt disjointed.
In what amounted to the proverbial swan song for that on-site trio, NBC dispatched Collinsworth, Dungy and Harrison to Alcatraz Island for Super Bowl LX pregame coverage rather than Levi’s Stadium. Further changes to the arrangement were always somewhat inevitable regardless, but Dungy seemed to seal his own fate when he refused to disclose how he’d voted on Bill Belichick’s Hall of Fame candidacy even after the results had already been made public.
Not long after The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand reported that Dungy was likely out as a regular on FNIA, Awful Announcing learned that Harrison’s return was equally unlikely and that Collinsworth’s own spot on the show was in question too. And while the younger Collinsworth found himself in limbo for a stretch, NBC has since given him a soft landing. Along with reprising his role on Sunday Night Football Final, he’ll host 10/10: NBC Sports Ranks, a 30-minute weekly countdown show built around highlights and viral sporting moments, premiering Fridays at 6 p.m. ET beginning Sept. 18.
Collinsworth also served as NBC’s lead Notre Dame play-by-play voice for two seasons, working alongside Garrett, before the network unceremoniously demoted him in 2024 and installed veteran broadcaster Dan Hicks, who’d previously called Notre Dame games for NBC roughly a decade earlier, in his stead. He’s since gravitated toward hosting and reporting duties that appear to suit him considerably better. He hosted Gold Zone throughout the Winter Olympics and has served as both a play-by-play voice and reporter across NBC’s college basketball and NASCAR coverage.
