The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has cleared the National Democratic Congress, NDC, governorship candidate, Abdulsalam Gwarzo, to contest the 2027 Kano State governorship election.
INEC confirmed that Gwarzo had met all the requirements and was eligible to contest the election.
The clearance was conveyed in a letter issued to the NDC leadership in Kano on Thursday.
With the clearance, Gwarzo becomes one of the early candidates to be officially cleared by the commission ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reacting to the development, supporters of the NDC candidate in Kano described the clearance as a major step towards reclaiming the state.
Gwarzo, a former commissioner in Kano State, is expected to officially flag off his campaign in the coming weeks.
