The #7 Indiana Hoosiers (5-0) head to corn country to take in the Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-0) in Lincoln. Turbo Richard ran for a career-high 204 yards in the Hoosiers 47-15 win over Maryland, while Nebraska won 48-23 over Maryland. Both Indiana and Nebraska rank top 10 in the country for scoring yet the game total is 51.5.
Nebraska is making a case for the top 25 after a 5-0 start and ranking top 15 in both offensive and defensive points per game. The Cornhuskers have scored at least 31 points in five-straight games and 48 or more in three out of five. Nebraska is coming off allowing a season-high 23 points to Maryland and actually trailed 23-14 at one point before trailing off 34-straight points. Nebraska scored 20 fourth-quarter points and pitched a second-half shutout. Nebraska looked like they got caught looking ahead last week, which will be one of the many challenges for Indiana this week.

Indiana has yet to have a complete game against P4 opponents and have steadily moved back in the rankings since the start of the season. However, last week was impressive, particularly in the first half. Indiana jumped out to a 37-0 lead in this game and ran for a total of 329 yards, 8.4 yards per carry, and two touchdowns at Rutgers. Josh Hoover tossed four touchdowns with Nick Marsh catching one and Charlie Becker grabbing two scores. Indiana is only a -7.5 point road favorite at Nebraska for this game in a tough look-ahead spot and also back-to-back road games. Indiana will be back at home next week against #5 Ohio State for all the marbles, or just the best pathway to the Big Ten Championship.
Let’s dive into the schools on both sides of the ball, look at a few key players, and see where the numbers take us.

The Indiana Hoosiers Offense:
Indiana had their best offensive showing in weeks against Rutgers. The Hoosiers posted 47 points, 26 first downs, 5-of-10 on third downs, and 593 total yards. Indiana had a season-high 329 rushing yards thanks to 204 of that from Turbo Richard and 122 via Lee Beebe Jr. Josh Hoover tossed four touchdowns to three different receivers and completed 20 out of 27 passes. Indiana will be on the road back-to-back weeks here before hosting Ohio State, so this is a bit of a look-ahead spot on the road.

Indiana Player to Watch on Offense: RB Turbo Richard
Turbo Richard is coming off a season-high 204 yards against Rutgers on just 13 carries (15.7 ypc). Richard scored once on a 14-yard run, but also had a 57-yarder to his credit. Richard ranks eighth in the country with 587 rushing yards and 9.3 yards per carry (7th). Richard has yet to record more than 15 carries in a game this season, but that’s likely coming against Nebraska or Ohio State the following game.
The Indiana Hoosiers Defense:
Indiana’s defense held Rutgers to 195 passing yards and 59 rushing yards. The Hoosiers limited Rutgers to nine first downs and an abysmal 2-of-14 on third downs. Indiana held Rutgers scoreless in the first half with four punts and two turnovers on downs. The first half defense was strong for a second-straight week, but that’s now 38 points allowed in the second half of two conference games.

Indiana Player to Watch on Defense: DL Tobi Osunsanmi
Tobi Osunsanmi kept his sack streak alive, which is now at four games for the Hoosiers. Osunsanmi has 18 tackles, four sacks, one forced fumble and recovery on the season. Of all the teams Indiana has played, Nebraska has the best offensive line protection, so we’ll see if Osunsanmi can reach five-straight games with a sack. Osunsanmi had 3.5 sacks in 2024 and 4.0 sacks in 2025, so he’s a half-sack away from a career-high.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers Offense:
Nebraska has scored at least 31 points in five-straight games and 48 or more in three. The Huskers had 447 yards against Maryland, but committed an insane 16 penalties for 132 yards. Nebraska could have put up better numbers, but only turned the ball over once and sacked twice. Nebraska had three passing touchdowns and three rushing scores. Mehki Nelson scored twice on the ground and Kwazi Gilmer caught two touchdowns.
Nebraska Player to Watch on Offense: QB Anthony Colandrea
Anthony Colandrea hasn’t had any issues with Nebraska this season posting a 13:2 TD to INT ratio and ranking third on the team with 249 rushing yards and two more scores. Colandrea has the Nebraska offense ranked top 10 in scoring (43.6 ppg), 10th in third-down offense (52.4%), and 13th in red zone offense (95.5%).

The Nebraska Cornhuskers Defense:
Nebraska allowed a season-high 23 points to Maryland and gave up 395 yards of offense. The Terps turned the ball over twice to the Huskers and went 1-of-14 on third downs. Nebraska has the nations second-best third-down defense (21.3%) and 17th in total yards per game allowed (265.8). This will be the best offense Nebraska has faced and the rush defense will be challenged as PPF ranks the Huskers rushing defense 91st.
Nebraska Player to Watch on Defense: DB Dwayne McDougle III
Against Maryland, Dwayne McDougle III had a 81-yard pick-six, his first of the season. McDougle had seven tackles in three-straight games leading up to Maryland (one tackle). With San Diego State last year, he had four interceptions, one forced fumble, and 51 tackles. He will have the privilege of reading Josh Hoover and slowing down these talented Hoosiers wide outs.

Nebraska was 4-8-1 ATS last season and an NCAA-best 10-3 to the Over
“Nebraska has been one of the best teams ATS this season at 4-1 and the offense has turned a leaf with Anthony Colandrea and the defense is falling into a groove in the new 4-2-5 scheme. Indiana looked good last week, but other than, they’ve shown lapses this season. With 38 second-half points allowed in the last two games, there is an opportunity for a backdoor cover. I’d lean Nebraska anything over +7.”
